Legendary Australian pacer Brett Lee has named India’s Jasprit Bumrah as “the best bowler of all formats,” following Bumrah’s exceptional performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. Bumrah played a pivotal role in Rohit Sharma’s side clinching the title, emerging as India’s standout performer with 15 wickets in the tournament.

Bumrah’s match-changing spells were crucial in both the group stage game against Pakistan and the final against South Africa. In both instances, India seemed almost out of contention, but Bumrah’s brilliance turned the tide. His remarkable performance earned him the Player of the Tournament award.

Bumrah is best bowler of all formats, says Lee

Brett Lee, a World Cup winner himself, lauded Bumrah, stating,

“In my opinion, Jasprit Bumrah is simply exceptional. He is the best bowler of all formats right now and leads the attack.”

Lee praised Bumrah for his ability to maintain incredible pace while shaping the new ball away, emphasizing his leadership qualities demonstrated during the tournament. Bumrah’s economy rate and wicket-taking ability were highlights of his performance, making him an invaluable asset to the Indian team.

Lee also commended India for their overall accomplishments and their impressive T20I setup. He noted the strength of India’s batting lineup, which features players capable of batting at every position. With the retirement of stalwarts like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, young talents such as Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh have stepped up to lead the team.

Currently, the Indian cricket team is engaged in a five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, leading the series 2-1 after a strong comeback following an initial loss. The Gill-led side has recorded back-to-back victories, showcasing the depth and power of India’s middle-order.

Lee highlighted the power-packed batting order, saying,

“Their batting order, which includes players who can dominate at every position from top to bottom, speaks volumes. Their middle-order is loaded with power and they have hitters who can put runs on the board quickly.”
