Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel will be getting married this offseason.
When Dillon Gabriel arrives for training camp, he’ll be a married man.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback is set to marry his long-time partner Zo Caswell this summer. Caswell shared an update on TikTok, looking ahead to the wedding, writing “And married in three months…ahhh!!” along with photos of the two through the years.
The couple’s story stretches back to middle school in Hawaii. According to People, the two first crossed paths at Mililani High School, bonding over a gardening exercise.
“We met gardening, funny enough,” Caswell said in 2024. “He kept coming closer and closer to me and I was like, ‘Who’s this weird guy?’”
The relationship endured long distance from the start. Dillon Gabriel left Hawai‘i six months before graduation to play at UCF, and the couple navigated an on-and-off stretch over the next three years before Caswell ultimately moved to Oklahoma following his transfer to the Sooners.
Gabriel proposed in September 2024 in Oregon, shortly after making his debut with the Ducks. The couple announced the engagement in a joint Instagram post captioned “9/1/2024 🤍.”
Browns QB Dillon Gabriel, Fiancée Involved in Rookie Season Drama
Caswell wasn’t just a spectator during Gabriel’s rookie season. She made headlines of her own. When Gabriel lost the starting job to Sanders following his concussion, comments from Caswell on a TikTok post surfaced, adding fuel to the Browns’ quarterback controversy.
She wrote that “everyone in the building wants him to play.” She also took a shot at a fan, adding, “But you wouldn’t know that bc you’ve never played in the nfl or been a [coach] right?”
She later posted a “back to neutral” message on social media while showing off her engagement ring.
Sanders, for his part, handled his relationship with Gabriel with class. Gabriel was often booed during his six starts, which Sanders petitioned the fans not to do.
“When Dillon’s out there playing, I appreciate the fans, but I’m a good person, so I don’t really like him not feeling comfortable and confident,” Sanders said.
Browns Haven’t Forgotten About Dillon Gabriel
On the football side, Gabriel heads into training camp with something to prove. The Browns selected him in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he went 1-5 as a starter before losing his job to Sanders. He finished his rookie campaign with 937 yards and seven touchdowns.
New head coach Todd Monken has declared an open quarterback competition among Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson. Sanders has been the most visible presence at the Browns facility this offseason, while Monken acknowledged he had not seen Gabriel in the building ahead of the start of the offseason program.
Still, general manager Andrew Berry has not given up on the 25-year-old.
“He may be forgotten externally, but he’s not forgotten to us,” Berry said at the NFL Combine in February. “Dillon’s a guy that has a bright future in this league.”
Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot noted that Gabriel should be “hungry” heading into camp.
“He’s got something to prove and everybody has written him off in this competition,” Cabot said. “Dillon is a competitive guy. He’s going to come in here and press both of these guys.”
Gabriel could also find himself navigating a very different landscape if the Browns add a quarterback in the draft. Cleveland holds nine total picks — including two in the first round.
