BUCCS GIRLS IN TWO CUP FINALS

BUCCANEERS Girls teams contest two Connacht Cup finals at the Dexcom Stadium, Galway, on Sunday afternoon. The U-14 Girls are first in action when they square up to combination side Gort/Monivea. The U-16 Girls then have a juicy derby decider against Ballinasloe. Two tough tests are envisaged but both Buccs teams have the talent and ability to earn the silverware if they play to their potential on the expansive 4G surface. Their endeavours to date this season warrant big numbers supporting them so let’s hear plenty of encouragement for these young Pirates.

The U-14 final kicks off at 11.30 a.m. with the U-16 final following at 1 p.m.

Buccaneers Girls Rugby Enjoy Landmark Season as both U-14 and U-16 Teams reach Connacht Cup Finals

Buccaneers RFC will celebrate a milestone moment in their rapidly developing girls’ programme this weekend, as both the U-14 and U-16 teams have secured their places in the Connacht Cup Finals. The deciders will take place at Dexcom Stadium, Galway, on Sunday, 22 March, marking one of the most significant days yet for female rugby at the club.

The U-14 squad enters the final on a high, sitting joint top of the Division 1A League with one fixture remaining against Westport that could seal a historic league-and-cup double. Their journey to the final included impressive victories over Sligo and Ballinasloe, earning them a showdown against Gort‑Monivea, who finished top of Division 1B.

Meanwhile, the U-16s face a familiar foe in Ballinasloe, setting up a repeat of last year’s final. Buccaneers reached this stage after strong wins against Sligo and a close game versus Tuam‑Oughterard. The league campaign saw Buccaneers finish second to Ballinasloe in Division 1A with both clubs claiming wins over each other during the season. Matches between these sides have been tight, physical and highly entertaining in recent years —–Sunday’s “El Classico” is expected to be no different.

The club is proud of the dedication of the players, management teams, and coaches, and wishes both squads the very best of luck ahead of the finals.
