Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman: Buddy McGirt predicts stoppage win

On March 28, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman headlines a Premier Boxing Champions Pay-Per-View event, promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing. Fundora’s WBC super welterweight world title will be on the line.

These two were originally due to meet last October, before a hand injury to Fundora led to the bout being postponed. As we edge closer to this world title fight, respected trainer Buddy McGirt has revealed his prediction when speaking to Fight Hub TV.

Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman set for Las Vegas showdown

Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) was last in action, comprehensively beating Tim Tszyu in their rematch, with Tszyu retiring after round seven. That victory solidified Fundora’s position at the top of the super welterweight division.

Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) has shone at times during his career, but inactivity and injuries have caused his career to almost grind to a halt. Elite wins over Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter show just how good Thurman has been. A win over Brock Jarvis last March was impressive, but this is a step up, and it remains to be seen just how much Thurman has left.

Buddy McGirt predicts Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman

Talking to Fight Hub TV about Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman, Buddy McGirt said: “I think Keith Thurman stops him.”

“Just experience. Keith has been there. He’s been in the gutter. Fundora really hasn’t, and when he has (alluding to Mendoza fight)…you know what I mean? I just think Keith’s got to many guns for him,” added McGirt.

When asked if he feels the lack of activity will play a part in Thurman’s performance, McGirt said: “I mean, it could, but I think Keith is the type of guy that he wants it bad enough, he’ll figure out a way to win.”
