Bumrah’s Emotional Reflection After Securing Player of the Tournament

The incredible team touched the milestone. June 29 fulfilled the dreams of the dreams of millions of Indians. The 11 players who carried the huge responsibility on their shoulders have made it finally. After 11 years, India won the T20 World Cup. throughout the tournament, they have been unstoppable as they lifted the trophy being unbeaten. Throughout the season, Jasprit Bumrah shined throughout the tournament. He has become the key factor for India in so many matches including the final one. After that incredible contribution, Jasprit Bumrah won the Player of the Tournament award. After that, he shared his words. 

Bumrah Nailing it in Style:

In India’s bowling unit, Jasprit Bumrah is a gem. He proved this fact by utilizing every opportunity. After losing the 2023 ODI World Cup final at home, the team was heartbroken. but this T20 World Cup win against South Africa relieved all the pain. The final match between India and South Africa was a crucial one as the game went on till the very last delivery. 

After having an exciting tournament, Bumah shined in the final game too. In the second over of the second innings, Bumrah sent back Reeza Hendricks in an outstanding delivery. That was a huge breakthrough for India. Then he secured another scalp in the 18th over. He ended the tournament with 15 wickets with an incredible economy rate of 4.17. 

While talking about the thrilling game, he said, “Usually I’m the one who tries to keep my emotions in check and get the job done but today I don’t have many words, I don’t usually cry after a game but the emotions are taking over. We were in trouble but we’re really over the moon to win from that stage.”

Later he added, “My family is here, we came close last time and we got the job done, there’s no better feeling than to get your team through in a game like this.:

Over the Performance:

While talking about his performance, Bumrah said, “It just felt good, tried to keep myself in a bubble and tried not to think too far ahead. When the big day comes, you have to do it, throughout the tournament I felt very clear. I always think about one ball and one over at a time, don’t think too far ahead.”

Later he added, “Emotions can take over, it was taking over but you have to keep it in check but now that the game is over, it can come out and you can scream and shout.”

On the thrilling 16th Over:

While batting in the second innings, South Africa got some early setbacks. But then they bounced back. At one point, they almost took over the game. But in the 16th over, Bumrah showcased his thrilling dominance. In those six deliveries, he conceded only 4 runs. That turned the game as South African batters faced troubles. 

While talking about this, Bumrah said, “I saw the ball was a bit scuffed up and it would reverse a bit, thought which would be the most difficult shot for the batter and was able to execute it.”
