Banks was a three-star recruit who signed with Louisville out of the state of Michigan. He played sparingly for two seasons at Louisville. Following the two seasons, he transferred to Florida for the 2023 season. He posted 19 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack that season, as he helped the Gators win five games. In 2024, he totaled 21 total tackles, seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. His play led the Gators to improvement, as they won eight games. Due to a foot injury in 2025, he played in just three games, tallying six tackles and one tackle for loss.
Following the season, Banks began preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first or second round pick.
Caleb Banks Strengths
Banks has great size for an NFL defensive tackle. He stands at 6-foot-6 and 327 pounds, which makes him one of the bigger interior defensive linemen in the class. With his height and weight comes good arm length, which measured 35 inches at the NFL Combine. He also has big hands. Banks has a great body to start his NFL career.
For his size, Banks has great athleticism. He has a quick first step, which helps him put offensive linemen in recovery mode. Banks can get to a decent speed to threaten gaps, but he can also change directions pretty quickly as well. His suddenness and body control help him win matchups and create havoc on the interior.
His ability to attack gaps is unique for a player of his size. He can win his one-on-one matchups and fill a gap. Banks is aggressive and his movement ability helps him change the course of plays, as running backs will have to change their running lanes. He gets skinny to fit through holes and fill them,
Caleb Banks Weaknesses
Banks’s health is a concern heading into the draft. He had a foot injury during 2025, which limited him to three games. When he did play he looked limited. He had another foot injury during the NFL Combine, which is set to keep him from working out for eight to 12 weeks. Foot injuries for bigger players can be tough for long careers, so teams will have to be comfortable with his medical history to draft him.
While he has some pass rush moves, including a nice hump move, Banks could have a better pass rush plan and add more moves to his game. He mostly won based on his size and athleticism, but can be a more impactful rusher with a go-to plan. Adding moves and counters can help him when his strength and burst aren’t enough.
When offensive linemen get their hands on Banks, he can struggle to shed quickly. There are plays left on the table because he can’t release himself from the grip of blockers. Making sure his hands have good placement and timing can help him shed quicker and make more plays.
