The Don Callis Family is expanding. The newest member is Rocky Romero’s son. Hold on. This isn’t a joke. Well, it’s partially a joke based on storylines. The newest member is a legit superstar in CMLL. Romero welcomed Volador Jr. to the family, and the Family already has a shot at the AEW World Trios Championship.
Romero revealed the news on social media as the ‘face’ of CMLL.
The Callis Family trio of Hechicero, El Clon, and Volador Jr. will challenge Mistico and JetSpeed for the AEW trios titles in Arena Mexico on the CMLL Friday night show (Apr. 3, 2026).
For those not familiar with the history between Romero and Volador Jr., they are not actually related. They had been rivals since 2003 when Romero won the CMLL World Super Lightweight Championship from Volador. Twenty years later, the rivalry was reignited. Rocky won the World Historic Welterweight Championship from Volador. Azucar’s success gave him the bravado to refer to Volador as his son in lucha libre, even though, Volador is two years older. Volador would have his revenge by winning hair versus hair. Later, Volador turned heel and loosely aligned with his papá. Romero and Volador even tried to win the CMLL tag titles, but they fell short.
In terms of Volador’s star power in CMLL, Mistico is on a level all his own. Volador is on that top superstar tier below Mistico. So, Volador joining the Callis Family is a big deal on paper.
The Callis Family currently includes Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita, Andrade El Idolo, Hechicero, Josh Alexander, Wardlow, Mark Davis, Jake Doyle, Lance Archer, Brian Cage, El Clon, Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero, and now Volador Jr.
In reference to this recent expansion, Don Callis still wants more.
Callis has his eye on Tommaso Ciampa and Lio Rush in recent weeks.
