For the first time in at least a decade, Barbadians will not have to pay a cent to watch the Pic O De Crop Finals.
Chief executive officer of the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), Carol Roberts, made the announcement on Wednesday at the offices of Courtesy Garage in Wildey, St Michael, during the draw of finalists.
“Just in case you can’t make it . . . with the support of the Minister [in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Culture Senator Dr Shantal Munro-Knight], the ministry, the Prime Minister’s Office and the board of the NCF, I am very pleased to announce that this year, the Finals will be broadcast live and free of cost for all Barbadians and all of the world to see. So, calypsonians, bring your A-plus game,” she said.
This raised questions as to whether the event, which will take place at the National Botanical Gardens in Waterford, St Michael, next Friday, will be streamed online or if it was still going to be shown on CBC TV8. (CA)
