Campagnolo Ekar gravel groupset remains my favorite mechanical gravel kit, but the Italians have something even bigger up their sleeve and it starts with their top-shelf Super Record 13 group. Going 13-speed is only part of the story here (2x road launched in June), but this fully-electronic groupset is now a platform — with interchangeable derailleurs and cassettes to make it suitable for 1x road racing, all-road and gravel use.
Importantly, the business end of the groupsets feature either a 9-42T or 10-48T 13-speed cassette. And, complementing those cassette options are optimized rear derailleurs — the road, all-road and gravel. These derailleurs feature Nano Clutch technology to aid chain retention and keep things quiet. Obviously, they are fully wireless and compatible with the new 1x hoods and existing 2x hoods. These group sets are hitting your LBS at $3050 – $3899.
Rounding out the new groupset is the all-new Campagnolo Bora X all-road and gravel wheelset that features a 50mm profile with 27mm internal width that’s supported by a hooked rim design. These wheels are optimized for 35c+ tires and are $2599.
