Campagnolo has issued its first statement since last week’s reports that it plans to cut around 40% of its Vicenza workforce. After Escape Collective requested comment, the Italian manufacturer responded via email, saying it has presented a new industrial plan to unions. Campagnolo confirmed that job reductions are expected, but rejected any suggestion of relocation or offshoring.

The company said it has presented the plan, approved by its board of directors on 21 November, to the national trade unions and its internal workplace council. Described as “highly structured” and the result of months of work, the plan remains under negotiation, with further meetings already scheduled. “Discussions between the Company and Trade Unions are ongoing, with possible positive developments regarding a schedule of meetings that has already been defined,” the statement read.
