TNA Wrestling has officially confirmed that former WWE Women’s Champion Candice Michelle has signed with the promotion following several recent appearances that sparked speculation about her future with the company.
Michelle was seen during the TNA on AMC premiere and again at TNA No Surrender, which immediately led to questions about whether her appearances were part of a larger role. TNA has now confirmed that she will be working with the company moving forward.
As seen below, the announcement was made through a video released by the promotion that showed Michelle signing her contract. During the video, TNA executive Carlos Silva welcomed her to the organization and outlined the role she will play behind the scenes.
“Candice, it’s so great that you’re going to be part of the TNA team, be behind the scenes with us as a former champion, bringing all of that experience to all the women here at TNA. It’s going to be great. We’re just so happy. And I’ve got your contract here. I think it’s got everything that we talked about, and we just look forward to building this together.”
Michelle responded by thanking the company and admitted that she never expected to return to the wrestling business in this capacity.
“Wow. Thank you so much. It feels good to be home with wrestling. I’ve been loyal with Tommy for 20 years. Loyal to the business, and I didn’t know that this could come back. So to give me a platform so that I can help build this with you guys and be a small little piece of that and see where I can fit in there on any angle, it’s really a dream come true.”
She also explained how the opportunity came together, revealing that longtime wrestling figure Tommy Dreamer contacted her shortly after the holidays.
“It was on December 26 and my phone rang and it was Tommy Dreamer. I was like, wow, God, you work through Tommy Dreamer. Amazing. And it kind of scared the crap out of me because I thought, can I do that? When he asked me to come back and help behind the scenes, I didn’t know if I had that in me.”
Michelle said that once she arrived and saw the environment within the company, she immediately felt comfortable returning.
“But stepping foot in here, the company you guys have built from everybody, from talent to crew to makeup, I felt right at home. So I’m happy to be here. Thank you for the opportunity.”
With the contract now signed, Michelle’s role with TNA will extend beyond occasional appearances, as she is expected to contribute behind the scenes while sharing her experience with the promotion’s women’s division.
