Getting close to Christmas now, but still lots of ITF events and still a few Canadians taking part in them.
And on the junior side, one of the bigger junior events is going in on Fort Lauderdale – the Orange Bowl.
There have been a few winners in the past – Carling Bassett in 1982, Gabriela Dabrowski in 2009 and Bianca Andreescu in 2015. But none lately.
(There was a string in th 16-and-under division a few years back: from 2011 through 2014 Erin Routliffe, Gloria Liang, Charlotte Robillard-Millette and Andreescu all won.
Only one girl this year with direct entry – Nadia Lagaev, who was usually the only representative from Canada at the majors, as well. Three on the boys’ side. And of course more are possible out of the qualifying.
