Capibaras a class above Cobras in Santa Fe

Los Capibaras were a class above Os Cobras in round two of Super Rugby Americas (SRA) 2026 on Saturday. The rookie team ran riot with six first-half tries. The bonus point was sealed well before the half-time siren and when it did sound, Los Capibaras held a 40-7 lead.

Os Cobras were well and truly outclassed. The flurry of tries began on 6 minutes with second-rower Lucas Bur running in. Ignacio Dogliani converted but did not need to kick the next two as Os Cobras conceded penalty tries on 12 and 14 minutes.

Teenage fullback, Francisco Lluch scored the bonus point try for Los Capibaras on 24 minutes. It was his first of two opening half tries while Lautaro Cipriani also crossed for a try in the third quarter. Os Cobras came away with one try of their own as back-rowers André Arruda and Matheus Claúdio combined with the latter scoring.

The second-half was more pedestrian. South African Rosko Specman scored first to give Os Cobras their second, and final score of the afternoon. It was a series of kicks including what could only be described as a suicidal own goal from Los Capibaras.

Los Capibaras ended their drought by scoring twice in the final quarter. Winger Franco Rossetto and flanker Felipe Villagrán were the try scorers. Villagrán’s try was arguably the best of the afternoon, albeit it involved a some good fortune after he regathered his own kick with a ricochet off João do Amaral.

Os Cobras return home looking for improvement for week three. The Brazilian side play host to Yacare in Sâo Paulo. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-table Capibaras travel to Buenos Aires to face Los Pampas who were denied victory by Los Dogos on Saturday evening in a classic.
