Clive Lloyd: 2 (CWC 1975, 1979)Â
Clive Lloyd, one of the most stylish batters of his era, became the first-ever captain to win an ICC Cricket World Cup trophy way back in 1975 when his side defeated Australia at Lord’s. Â
Lloyd-led West Indies once again reached the finals of Cricket World Cup in 1979 edition and overcome the hosts England to claim their second World Cup title. Â
MS Dhoni: 3 (T20 WC 2007, CWC 2011, CT 2013)Â
The legendary MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of cricket and is also holding a unique record of winning all major ICC trophies. Â
Dhoni, with no prior experience of leading the international side won T20 World Cup 2007 as captain during his first assignment. MS was invincible after that, as he led a team that defeated the powerful Australia in Australia. Claimed number 1 position in test cricket. Â
India won 2011 cricket world cup after 28-long years in MS Dhoni’s captaincy and secured Champions Trophy in 2013. Â
Ricky Ponting: 4 (CWC 2003, 2007, CT 2006, 2009)Â
This gentleman needs no introduction when it comes to the list of successful captains. The Aussie great is clearly ranks number 1 on the list, having led Australia to four ICC titles. Â
Ponting became the captain of Australia in 2002 and won the CWC the following year. He successfully defended the World Cup title in 2007 and led Australia to victory in ICC Champions Trophy twice. Â
