About The Camp:
Carmel Valley Tennis Camp (CVTC) is a highly respected, family-owned summer sleepaway Tennis Camp for children ages 10–18. The 2026 summer includes 2 one week sessions, and 4 two week sessions with 52 campers in each session.
We’ve created our Tennis Program to encourage young people to love the game while developing and improving their Tennis Skills in a wholesome and fun camp setting. Good Sportsmanship is the cornerstone of our program.
Days begin with a Morning Meeting at 8:30 on our Stadium Court. The Tennis Program Manager explains the Tennis Focus of The Day to the campers as our tennis counselors demonstrate the drills.
Tennis Lessons begin at 9:00. The 52 campers are divided into 10 Tennis Groups with 4 to 6 campers in 3 nonconsecutive hours of Tennis Lessons between 9:00 and 3:00. Each Tennis Lesson is well structured, planned and organized so that campers hit lots of balls in Game-Based (live ball) drills.
Team Tennis Match Play begins at 3:00. Campers are placed on a Team Tennis Team by our Tennis Program Manager and compete in one set singles or doubles matches. Before the matches begin, our Tennis Program Manager/Directors present various Tennis Topics and the daily Team Tennis Standings before the campers head off to play their matches. We encourage campers to always strive to put in their best effort whenever they are on the Tennis Court.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a high-level leader to manage our Tennis Program for the 2026 season. This individual will oversee the Tennis Counselors, maintain the “CVTC Culture,” and ensure a high-quality tennis experience for every camper.
Requirements
● Education: College Graduate.
● Experience: Proven background in tennis coaching, staff management, working with children and college age tennis players.
● Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Docs and Sheets.
● Legal: Valid U.S. Driver’s License; U.S. Citizen or valid work visa.
● Dates: Full commitment from May 30 – August 16, 2026.
Responsibilities
Management and Administration
● Manage CVTC Tennis Program.
● Uphold CVTC culture, goals, and safety standards as outlined in camp manuals.
● Lead pre-camp staff training for Tennis Counselors (June 3–6, 2026).
● Report directly to the Owners and Directors daily.
● Manage Tennis Counselors and campers for On-Court Evaluations to establish Tennis Groups on Opening Days.
Daily Operations (Monday – Friday)
● Morning Leadership: Run the 8:30 AM meeting, explaining the “focus of the day” through tennis demonstrations utilizing the Tennis Counselors.
● Staff Supervision: Manage and Coach Tennis Counselors during group lessons.
● Team Tennis: Organize Team Tennis Teams and match schedules; lead the 3:00 PM Team Tennis meeting and direct afternoon match play.
Time Commitment if living on site:
● Standard Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
● Manager on Duty (MOD): Two evenings per week, 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM.
● Opening Sundays: Six sessions, 3:00 PM – 8:30 PM.
Time Commitment if living off site:
● Standard Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
● Opening Sundays: Six sessions, 3:00 PM – 8:30 PM.
Compensation
● Salary: $20,000 minimum for the season.
● Benefits: Housing and meals provided for Tennis Program Manager living on site.
