Charles Oliveira Fires Back At Nate Diaz And Conor McGregor After UFC 326 Criticism

Charles Oliveira dominated the main event of UFC 326 and claimed the BMF belt.

After the bout many fighters and fans criticised the Brazilian for the dull nature of performance not matter how impressive. The BMF title was held by Max Holloway after he defeated Justin Gaethje in magnificent fashion at UFC 300 and he defends the belt against fellow UFC Icon Dustin Poirer in the American’s retirement fight at UFC 318.

Oliveira won the belt after a dominant five round grappling heavy performance which unsettled many fans as the title of BMF is viewed for high intensity striking matches which fans had hoped would be the case again. Ultimately, the job of a fighter is to win a fight and Oliveira showed the vast skill level between himself and Holloway within the grappling department.

Two men with forever intertwined UFC careers, Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz had similar reactions to the bout and made their thoughts known.

Nate Diaz was one of the original competitors for this belt with its creation back in 2019 as he fought Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244. The fan favourite American posted his opinion on X.

The Notorious Conor McGregor like always was front and centre of MMA media attention particularly in the build up to the UFC White House announcement which was done during the UFC 326 event. Many thought a return for the Irishman on the White House lawn could have been in place however he squashed those rumours. On X McGregor posted his thoughts on the BMF title fight.

He followed up stating

Charles Oliveira Responds

In the post fight press conference the newly crowned BMF holder was questioned about the comments from both McGregor and Diaz. When asked if he saw potential matchups against them in future he said,

“You want to put them at 170, you want to put them up there I don’t care, you want to put them at middleweight we do it, it doesn’t matter. I’ll tell you what if you want it make it a Grand Prix two fights same day see what happens.” Quotes from MMAFightingonSBN Youtube channel.

Given the resume and current situation at lightweight, Charles Oliveira could well now be in the business of “money fights” which of course includes the Notorious red panty night. However, a McGregor return seems more like a fantasy nowadays rather than a reality.
