Liverpool boss Arne Slot will hope to see his side build on Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Sunderland when they face Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Reds have endured a difficult campaign so far and look set to fail in their quest to defend their Premier League crown, with leaders Arsenal currently sat 15 points clear of Slot’s sixth-placed side.

The Merseyside outfit could be plotting a domestic cup success, though, and the visit of the Seagulls on Saturday presents a decent opportunity to progress into the last 16, with Brighton in poor form at present.

Away from the action, it has emerged that Liverpool are one of several clubs keeping tabs on a highly rated English defender, currently playing overseas.

As per Sportsboom, Liverpool are monitoring Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell as they assess possible transfer targets.

The report claims that the Reds are joined by Premier League rivals Chelsea, Brighton Crystal Palace, and West Ham United in showing interest in the Englishman.

Cresswell, 23, joined Toulouse from Leeds United in 2024, having previously had a loan spell with Millwall.

The centre-back had featured 14 times for the Whites but, since making the switch to France, has established himself as a regular for Carlos Martinez Novell’s side.

In total he has now made 56 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring an impressive seven goals and registering a further four assists.

It is claimed that German clubs Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg are also monitoring the central defender, who is under contract in Toulouse until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.

While the Ligue 1 outfit are said to be reluctant to sell Cresswell, the report suggests that an offer in the region of £25 million could tempt the French side into selling.
