The road to the playoffs just got bumpier for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kansas City was looking to pick up a win over the Houston Texans and advance in the standings as they head into the latter half of the season.
Despite what many views as a must-win game ending in a 20-10 loss for the Chiefs, there’s still hope to make the postseason from the Kansas City locker room. Much of their struggle against Houston came from self-inflicted wounds.
After the game, Mahomes was asked about Andy Reid’s decision to leave the offense on the field and trust his guys on fourth down.
“I’ll never question the decision to go for it, because I believe in the offense,” Mahomes said.
Mahomes then admitted to a mistake on his end while the Chiefs were looking to come back.
“They did a good job on fourth down of passing off the crossers,” Mahomes said. “I think I was a little late (to Rashee)… We’ve got to go out there and maximize those opportunities and give ourselves more.”

The Kansas City Chiefs attempted four fourth downs and converted on just one during the matchup against the Houston Texans.
In the fourth quarter of the game, Kansas City was stalled on a fourth and one attempt and they were also unable to complete a fourth and four attempt, which some may view as a drop for wide receiver Rashee Rice.
Nevertheless, Andy Reid and his staff were on all in on the offense, but the laces didn’t fall in the Chiefs’ favor.

Patrick Mahomes now has the Chiefs sitting at 6-7 on the season, having to win-out with several other scenarios in the AFC needing to fall in favor of Kansas City in order to make the playoffs.
