In a thrilling development for cricket fans, Chittagong Kings has appointed cricketing legend Shahid Afridi as its brand ambassador for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025. Known for his explosive batting and charismatic presence on and off the field, the involvement of Afridi is expected to energize the franchise and its supporters ahead of the tournament.
A grand fanfare accompanied the new appointment of a player, through announcements of the move from all platforms of the social media through the club. The welcoming address said, “Welcome to the kingdom, LALA!” The former captain of the Pakistan team who popularly is known for his catchy sobriquet as “BOOM BOOM,” has a grandeur cricketing career where most players praise him greatly in reference to his good play within the game of cricket. His passion goes along great with the wishes of Kings in trying to continue beyond past performances.
Chittagong Kings planning to change fate under Afridi’s leadership this year
The Chittagong Kings have a long history behind them and always have a bright look ahead with becoming the runner-up in 2013, when they were under the guidance of Shakib Al Hasan. Now with a total win-loss ratio of 124 matches and 55 wins, the Kings seem to come out as champions which stands at 45.53%. They reached the play-offs four times, but couldn’t make it with the trophy. Afridi’s hiring as a brand ambassador is of much more significance, hoping to change their fate this season.
Adding to the excitement will be former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait, newly appointed as head coach to the Kings. Tait played for the franchise back in the 2013 BPL season and has returned with valuable experience at his disposal to guide this team into a quest for glory.
The BPL 2025, which is set to begin on December 27, 2024, will be the eleventh edition of this premier Twenty20 league, which is a product of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Chittagong Kings, under the captaincy of Afridi and Tait, are all set for a thrilling season as they eye the ultimate in Bangladesh’s cricketing landscape.
