Bay FC have locked down their star midfielder.
Claire Hutton and the second-year club, based out of San José / San Francisco, agreed to a five-year contract, through the 2030 National Women’s Soccer League season. Hutton joined Bay FC on February 11, after being traded from the Kansas City Current for $1.1 million in intra-league transfer funds.
Specific details of the contract were not announced by Bay FC.
“I am excited to make this commitment to Bay FC,” Hutton said, via a press release. “This is a club with real ambition, and I’ve felt a strong belief in both the team and my development since day one. This felt like a true two-way investment, with the club believing in me and me believing in what we are building here. I’m eager to continue building with this group, pushing for success, and representing the Bay Area over the next five years.”
Hutton featured in the opening two matches for Bay FC to begin the season — a 2-1 win against expansion side Denver Summit on March 14, and a 3-1 loss to Angel City FC on March 21. The midfielder started both mades and featured all 90 minutes.
“Claire is an excellent player, and we’re absolutely delighted to have her sign a new five-year contract with Bay FC,” Bay FC head coach Emma Coates said, via a press release. “She’s already made a strong impact at the club, and I believe what she brings will not only benefit us now but continue to shape our success for years to come. This is another important step in building something truly special here, and Claire is a big part of that vision.”
Hutton originally signed with the Kansas City Current ahead of the 2024 season. In her two seasons for the Current, she made 41 starts in 47 appearances, notching three assists and totaling 3,471 regular-season minutes.
The 20-year-old is also a member of the U.S. women’s national team, as she made her debut in February 2025 in the SheBelieves Cup. Hutton has 15 appearances, and one goal, for the U.S. She even captained the national team on January 24, this year, in a friendly against Paraguay.
Bay FC will face the North Carolina Courage, at WakeMed Soccer Park, on Saturday, March 28.
