Cody Rhodes is heading back to the biggest stage in professional wrestling, and the Undisputed WWE Champion knows exactly what the moment means.
Rhodes shocked fans on the post-Elimination Chamber edition of SmackDown when he defeated Drew McIntyre to regain the Undisputed WWE Championship. With the victory, “The American Nightmare” officially locked in another WrestleMania main event appearance, where he is scheduled to defend the title against his former mentor Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42.
Despite the massive accomplishment, not every fan was thrilled with Rhodes reclaiming the championship. The video of his title victory on WWE’s official YouTube channel racked up more than 100,000 dislikes, showing that some viewers weren’t happy to see him back on top.
Still, the championship win means Rhodes is about to achieve another milestone in his career. WrestleMania 42 will mark his fifth consecutive WrestleMania main event, an impressive run that few performers in WWE history can match.
Following the announcement, Sportskeeda Wrestling shared a graphic on social media pointing out Rhodes’ streak of WrestleMania main events. The champion noticed the post and offered a response about the significance.

Since returning to WWE in 2022, Rhodes has been positioned as one of the company’s biggest attractions. He headlined WrestleMania 39, WrestleMania 40, and WrestleMania 41, with WrestleMania 40 featuring him in the main event of both nights during his storyline against The Bloodline.
Now, with WrestleMania 42 on the horizon, Rhodes will once again close out the biggest event of the year—this time against Randy Orton in a matchup that carries years of history between the two stars.
