College Basketball's Bets to Bank on Monday, March 9

College Basketball's Bets to Bank on Monday, March 9

The college basketball regular season wrapped up Sunday, and conference tournaments are underway across the country. The first tickets to the Big Dance were already punched over the weekend by teams like LIU, Tennessee State, Northern Iowa, High Point, and Queens.

Monday’s slate is a bit lighter, but the board will only grow as we get closer to Selection Sunday. I have two bets lined up tonight: one featuring a matchup between two teams that love to push the pace and hit overs, and another backing a perennial conference power in a spot that sets up perfectly for them.

While the final day didn’t go as planned—hitting just one of three plays—the focus quickly shifts to championship week. Time to bounce back and start the week strong!

Northern Kentucky vs. Wright St. Over 158.5 (-110)

The Over is tough to ignore when Northern Kentucky and Wright State meet. The last 10 head-to-head matchups have all gone Over the total, including both meetings this season. Wright State won those games 88-80 in January and 92-91 in late February, showing just how high-scoring this matchup can get. The Raiders rank 70th nationally in offensive efficiency and shoot 47.2% from the field, giving them the firepower to push the pace. Wright State is also averaging 85.2 points per game over its last six contests. Northern Kentucky has been trending Over as well, cashing in three straight and five of its last seven. With both teams comfortable playing in fast, offense-driven games, this matchup sets up well for another high-scoring result.

Gonzaga Bulldogs -18.5 (-110)

Gonzaga is in a great bounce-back spot Monday night against Oregon State after ending the regular season with a loss to rival St. Mary’s. The Bulldogs should be motivated with a trip to the WCC title game on the line and a chance to get another crack at the Gaels. Gonzaga has appeared in 28 straight WCC tournament championship games dating back to 1998, winning 22 of them. They’ve also dominated this matchup recently, beating Oregon State by 20 and 38 points in the last two meetings while covering both spreads. Gonzaga brings the top offense in the WCC and the second-best defense, allowing just 66.3 points per game. Oregon State finished only 9-9 in conference play and is the lowest scoring team in the conference. They don’t have the scoring depth to keep up with Gonzaga’s firepower. With the Bulldogs looking to make a statement and get back to the title game, laying the points here makes a lot of sense.
