Concern over modified Evs – nationnews.com

Recent electrical vehicle fires involved mainly modified vehicles, the type used for racing.

That is according to Philip Best of Mega Power Limited, who, like Chief Fire Officer Errol Maynard, advised owners against allowing uncertified individuals to work on their vehicles.

He was speaking against a backdrop in which Maynard raised concerns about the electrical fires to the Weekend Nation during the Fire Service’s Open Day in Jubilee Gardens on Wednesday.

Maynard said: “We had three [electrical] fires thus far, all three of them within the last three weeks. One was an electric vehicle, but we are trying to determine whether or not it involved the high-energy battery or if it was a normal fire.
