Eddie Howe must be so frustrated and fed up with the Newcastle United hierarchy.
He cannot keep performing miracles while there is a merry-go-round in senior positions above him at the club.
David Hopkinson has now given his not so unequivocal support for Eddie Howe in an interview with NUFC journalists.
Given the PSR constraints, no real movement on the training ground, and still no decision on the stadium itself, why would Eddie Howe stay?
The Newcastle United owners talk the talk but where is the ambition?!!
They have unlimited funds but still no physical evidence of a new training ground, nor more importantly, a decision on the stadium.
Seriously increasing revenue is the only way Newcastle United can compete with the cartel but we are playing around the edges. Sponsorship deals here and there but nothing really significant that you would say: “Wow, that’s a game changer.”
Time for the Saudi Arabia PIF to start putting their money where their mouth is!!
There is no way Newcastle United can compete for a Premier League title by 2030, not without significant changes that will attract the quality needed to our club.
That means a demonstration of ambition by the owners, a statement of intent.
Not just words, but deeds, a new stadium is a must!!
I write this article as Liverpool exit the FA Cup, having been thrashed by Manchester City.
Arne Slot now in desperate trouble after spending a fortune last summer, having inherited a top quality squad as well.
A club which as part of the cartel, has all those things we strive to achieve.
Look at it from the point of view of Eddie Howe
A club that embraced an all out attacking style under Jurgen Klopp, a system we know Eddie Howe prefers.
Money available to spend on players without the concern of PSR/SCR.
What is there not to like?
Eddie Howe would certainly be a prime candidate if Liverpool were looking for an Arne Slot replacement.
The other benefit to Liverpool is that they can again scupper Newcastle United chances for another season, by taking our manager. Just like they did this season by taking our leading goalscorer.
There are other candidates of course…but with Premier League experience?
There is no way I want Eddie Howe to leave but he does have to adapt as well, too many times this season fatigue or lack of application has been a feature of our matches.
But given the lack of suitable replacements he is easily our best shot at the moment.
The worry is that given there has been so little movement from the Newcastle United owners on the most important factors in our campaign to join the elite, Eddie Howe could himself decide enough is enough.
