Connor Ingram Could Be In Play Before the Trade Deadline

The goaltending market appears to be heating up as we’ve finally reached trade deadline day, and according to former NHL goalie — now insider — Kevin Weekes, an Edmonton Oiler is among those being discussed in trade talks.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Weekes shared the latest on the carousel in the crease, and Connor Ingram was notably included as one of the names in play ahead of the deadline. Others listed were Sergei Bobrovsky, Jesper Wallstedt, Jordan Binnington, Anthony Stolarz, and Stuart Skinner — all of whom have surfaced in the rumor mill at various times in recent weeks.

Weekes wrote:

“Early morning Rumblings ; Per sources – Bobrovsky, Wallstedt, Ingram, Binnington, Stolarz and Skinner have been discussed in different potential trade scenarios. Goalie Market is intriguing,”

The 28-year-old Ingram is a pending UFA in the third and final year of the three-year, $5.85 million extension originally signed with the Utah Mammoth in 2023.

He’s been relatively solid handling a larger-than-expected workload in Edmonton, sporting an 8-6-1 record to go with a 2.83 goals-against average, a .890 save percentage, and one shutout across 15 starts.

Connor Ingram Oilers trade talk

If Ingram were to be traded, it would almost certainly mean the Oilers are landing one of the other big-name goaltenders Weekes mentioned, which would be a welcome addition for a team hoping to go on another deep run and this time win the Stanley Cup.

Ryan Rishaug said this morning that while GM Stan Bowman is content with his current tandem, he will do his due diligence to see if an upgrade at the right price becomes available, specifically naming Bobrovsky and Binnington as potential targets.

We’ll see where this goes, but as we know, anything can happen on deadline day — so buckle up.
