The timeline may have shifted yet again for Conor
McGregor’s proposed Octagon return.

The Irish star once claimed that fighting on the UFC White House
card was a
“done deal,” but that no longer seems to be the primary
target.

“I am in negotiations with the Ultimate Fighting Championship about
the bout, either the White House or thereabouts,” McGregor told
Drink Litt. “Sometime in the summer, McGregor will return.”

Same Story, Different Date

Last month in a tweet he later deleted, McGregor claimed that he
had been
offered a date and opponent, and that he was waiting on a
contract from the UFC. Shortly thereafter, he revealed that his
potential opponent was a “no name.” That post was also deleted.

McGregor hasn’t competed since June 2021, when he suffered a
gruesomely broken leg in a loss to Dustin
Poirier at UFC 264. A comeback appeared imminent when he
coached opposite Michael
Chandler on “The Ultimate Fighter 31,” but the fight against
Chandler was delayed multiple times before he withdrew from their
UFC 303 booking due to a broken toe on the week of the fight. SBG
Ireland coach John
Kavanagh revealed late last year that his fighter was
“fully locked in” for a fight at the White House.
