Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of India C, was forced to retire hurt on the second ball of the Duleep Trophy second-round encounter between India C and India B on Thursday, after he got off to a boundary on his opening ball. Although the precise reason for Gaikwad’s exit remained unclear, there were rumors that he was struck by a delivery from Mukesh Kumar on the first day of the match at Anantapur, causing him to wince in agony.
During the second ball of the Duleep Trophy match between India C and India B, Ruturaj Gaikwad was forced to withdraw due to injury, which prompted a discussion during live coverage.
Gaikwad was replaced in the middle by Rajat Patidar. Patidar became the opening partner of Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan. Despite their captain’s early setback, the two formed a strong partnership to get India C off to a strong start. Their 92-run partnership ended when Navdeep Saini bowled Patidar for 41 runs. Following his partner to the pavilion, Sudharsan was removed for 43 by Mukesh Kumar in the subsequent over.
Ishan Kishan and Baba Indrajith were summoned into the crease by the swift wickets. Gaikwad did not appear till lunchtime on the first day. There was no live coverage of this match, which was taking place at the Rural Development Trust Stadium “B” in Anantapur, hence the only trustworthy outlet to get live updates about it was the BCCI website.
However, Jio Cinema and the Sports 18 network broadcast the other second-round match between India A and India D, which is taking place in the “A” ground of the same site.
Disappointed, the supporters blasted the BCCI for failing to provide live broadcast for the two matches.
Gaikwad would be hoping that the injury is not significant and that he gets to return to the crease soon since these matches are very important for him to regain his spot in the Indian Test squad. Gaikwad did not have a fantastic outing in the Duleep Trophy opener against India D, scoring 5 and 46 in his two efforts.
Gaikwad’s foreign career has come and gone in patches. Although he has occasionally played for the T20I and ODI squads, he hasn’t yet been able to establish himself as the number one player. He only plays when Shubman Gill or Rohit Sharma, the regulars, aren’t available. Gaikwad has not been involved in red-ball cricket since his finger injury kept him out of the lineup during the South Africa tour. He was previously selected for the West Indies, but Yashasvi Jaiswal was chosen ahead of him, therefore he was unable to play.
