The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has pledged a donation of US$50,000 to aid tertiary-level students whose education was disrupted by the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl in July 2024. The hurricane severely affected the northern parts of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique, leaving many students in need of financial support to complete their studies.
The CPL’s contribution will assist students at the T.A. Marryshow Community College with accommodation, meals, transportation, and school supplies as they continue their education. Additionally, CPL will offer selected students internships at the 2025 CPL tournament to help with their professional development and future career prospects.
Pete Russell, CEO of the CPL, expressed the league’s commitment to supporting the youth of the Caribbean:
“Everyone at CPL has been touched by the impact that Beryl has had across the region, and we are pleased to support these students as they continue their studies. Supporting the youth of the Caribbean is hugely important to us, and we look forward to welcoming them to the tournament next year.”
Prime Minister of Grenada, Honourable Dickon Mitchell, also expressed gratitude for CPL’s contribution:
“We are very grateful for the support that Republic Bank CPL is giving to our young people as they look to rebuild their lives following the massive impact of Hurricane Beryl. This support allows them to focus on continuing their studies and rebuilding their futures.”
This initiative underscores CPL’s commitment to not only entertaining cricket fans but also contributing to the long-term development and recovery of Caribbean communities.
