According to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan, who hoped Dhoni to be a part of the next season, MS Dhoni has not confirmed whether he will be available for the 2025 season of IPL.
“We have still no confirmation from him, though we will like him to continue playing for us, hope he will confirm before 31st [October],” Viswanathan told ESPNcricinfo.
31st October is the deadline for the franchises to submit the list of their retained players before the mega auctions, and this year Dhoni can get retained by CSK as an uncapped player.
All this has been possible as the IPL brought a rule back which was removed in 2021. This rule stated that a player can be taken as uncapped if they have retired from international cricket for five years.
