Czechia Edges Out Cyprus by 4 Wickets in a Low-Scoring Thriller

Guernsey Rovers Athletic Club Ground, Port Soif — Czechia secured a narrow 4-wicket victory against Cyprus in a tense, low-scoring encounter in the ICC T20 World Cup Sub Regional Europe Qualifier C. The match saw Cyprus bundled out for just 67 runs, with Czechia eventually chasing down the modest target in 18 overs.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Cyprus struggled to build momentum as Czechia’s bowlers wreaked havoc. Muralidhara Vandrasi was the star of the show, claiming 4 wickets for 25 runs, while Naveed Ahmed supported him with 3/8. Cyprus could only muster 67 runs before being bowled out in 15.4 overs. Scott Austin (16 off 14) and Chamal Sadun (19 off 25) were the only batters to reach double figures for Cyprus.

Chasing a modest target of 68, Czechia faced a few nervy moments as Cyprus fought back with the ball. Czechia lost wickets at regular intervals but Martin Worndl held firm with a patient 30* off 51 balls, guiding his team home. Taranjit Singh and Mangala Gunasekara led the charge for Cyprus with two wickets each, but it was not enough to prevent Czechia from winning by 4 wickets.
