Danhausen’s WWE debut at Elimination Chamber didn’t happen sooner for one key reason — his AEW contract was extended, delaying WWE’s plans to sign him.
According to Bodyslam.net, WWE had been actively looking to bring Danhausen into the company as early as July 2025. However, those plans were put on hold after AEW extended his deal, despite Danhausen reportedly requesting that his contract not be extended if the company didn’t intend to use him.
This extension prevented WWE from moving forward with signing him at the time, forcing the company to wait until his AEW obligations officially expired before finalizing a deal.
Danhausen ultimately made his long-awaited debut during the February 28, 2026 Elimination Chamber premium live event in Chicago. His appearance came as the payoff to weeks of mystery crate teasers, with Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce opening the crate to reveal a coffin before Danhausen emerged to begin his WWE run.
The update makes it clear that WWE’s interest in Danhausen wasn’t sudden. The company had already identified him as a target months earlier, but AEW’s contract extension delayed his arrival until early 2026.
Sources have also indicated that Danhausen has now signed a multi-year contract with WWE, confirming that his debut marks the beginning of a longer-term run rather than a one-time appearance.
