Daniil Medvedev has shown exciting signs that he can return to the form that won him Grand Slam titles under new coaches Rohan Goetzke and Thomas Johansson.
Medvedev reached the final of Indian Wells and he’s already won three ATP titles since hiring his new coaches.
The Russian star is back inside the top 10 of the rankings and Medvedev is defending very few ranking points on the clay.
Medvedev has assessed his season so far ahead of the Monte-Carlo Masters, including one aspect he’s not too happy with.

Daniil Medvedev spots room for improvement so far in 2026
Speaking at the Monte-Carlo Masters, Medvedev said: “I think it was quite good. I’m someone who always wants more, especially the way I played some of the tournaments.”
However, Medvedev has already seen one clear spot that he desperately wants to address during the clay court swing.
Will Daniil Medvedev ever win another Grand Slam title?
“I’m not happy that I didn’t manage to bring that to all the tournaments I played, but that’s how tennis is. That’s the difference between the guys who win 20 Grand Slams and me, who is very good but isn’t going to win 20 Grand Slams.”
Nevertheless, Medvedev is happy that he is once again putting in the sort of form that puts him back in the top 10 of the rankings.
“I’m third in the Race and feeling happy with my game…. With my game and my shots, I’m not someone who can play bad and win matches,” he said.
“So to win a lot of matches I need to play well. So if I’ve won a lot of matches, it means I’ve been playing well.”
Medvedev has been drawn in the same section of the draw as Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner, and Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Monte-Carlo Masters.
Daniil Medvedev’s best-ever run at the Monte-Carlo Masters
Medvedev has struggled on the clay court swing previously, with his only Masters victory coming at the Italian Open in 2023.
The Russian has only reached the latter stages of the Monte-Carlo Masters on one occasion, when he found himself in the semi-finals of the event in 2019.

Medvedev defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic en route to the final four, where he eventually faced Dusan Lajovic.
Lajovic was unseeded at the event, but he managed to stun Medvedev in straight sets to reach the Monte-Carlo final.
Nevertheless, Medvedev would be absolutely delighted if he could find similar form at this year’s event.
