Danni Wyatt-Hodge Traded to RCB for WPL 2025

Danni Wyatt-Hodge, the aggressive England opener, has officially been traded from UP Warriorz to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season. This move comes as RCB looks to bolster its squad ahead of the new season, which is expected to start in early 2025.

Danielle Wyatt Hodge Traded to RCB

Wyatt-Hodge was originally signed by UP Warriorz for INR 30 lakhs during the WPL 2024 auction. However, she did not play a single match for the team, which finished fourth in the league standings. The trade agreement allows her to join RCB at her existing fee, maintaining her value within the league.

At 33 years old, Wyatt-Hodge brings a wealth of experience to RCB. She has played 164 T20I matches for England, scoring a total of 2,979 runs at an impressive strike rate of 127.85. Her record includes 16 half-centuries and two centuries, making her a formidable addition to any batting lineup. Recently, she showcased her talent at the T20 World Cup, where she was England’s top scorer with 151 runs at an average of 50.33.

Smriti Mandhana Praises Wyatt-Hodge

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana expressed enthusiasm about Wyatt-Hodge’s arrival. “Danielle is a game-changer and a phenomenal athlete,” Mandhana stated. “Her skills and competitive spirit align perfectly with our team’s vision. We are excited to welcome her to RCB and look forward to the energy she will bring to the squad.”

The trade marks a significant step for both Wyatt-Hodge and RCB as they prepare for WPL 2025. The league is expected to hold an auction in December 2024, where teams will finalize their rosters. Each franchise can retain up to 18 players, including a maximum of six overseas players.

While awaiting the start of WPL 2025, Wyatt-Hodge is currently competing in Australia with Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Her performance there will likely add momentum as she transitions into her new role with RCB.
