Till is ready to begin the next chapter of his combat sports
career.
In a post on Instagram, the
UFC veteran announced that he is parting ways with Misfits
Boxing. After exiting the UFC, Till became the Misfits Boxing
champion while earning victories over the likes of Luke
Rockhold, Anthony Tayler and Darren
Stewart.
“I’ve got a very big announcement to make: I’ve parted ways with
Misfits on really good terms,” Till said in a video post. “I’m
thankful for the 12 months I had with them and the three fights I
had [where] I became champion. As I said, on extremely good terms.
I’ve got nothing but love for Misfits and the owners and promoters,
and all of the people who work behind the scenes.
“It’s time to try my hand in something else.”
Till emerged as a star early in his UFC career thanks to victories
over welterweight stalwarts such as Donald
Cerrone and Stephen
Thompson. After suffering a second-round submission defeat
against Tyron
Woodley in a 170-pound title bout in September 2018, the
Liverpool native was never the same, ending his promotional tenure
with losses in four of his next five appearances.
Big Moves Coming?
While Till found a second wind on the influencer boxing circuit, he
admitted that finding fights under the Misfits banner was becoming
difficult. Though the Englishman teased “massive news” on the
horizon, he also didn’t rule out a return to Misfits in the
future.
“Not a lot of people wanted to fight me,” Till said. “It was
getting really hard to get fights, so in the next few days, I’m
going to have a massive announcement. Some massive news. I’m sure
you’re all going to be excited to see what I’m going to
announce.
“And I just want to say thanks again to Misfits. Thanks to everyone
involved, and I’ll probably be back there soon as well. This is not
the end of it with Misfits.”
