Day 2 Called Off, Players Enjoy Footvolley

In a disappointing turn of events for cricket fans, the second day of the India vs Bangladesh Test at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur was called off due to relentless rain. The heavy downpour prevented any play, forcing players to return to their hotel earlier than expected. Despite the disappointment, Team India members found a fun way to pass the time, engaging in a friendly game of footvolley at their hotel.

Rain Disrupts Day 2

After a rain-affected opening day, conditions worsened on Day 2. The drizzle in the morning turned into heavy rain, rendering the outfield unplayable.

Despite efforts from the groundsmen to dry the pitch, including the use of super soppers, visibility remained poor.

By 2:15 PM, officials officially called off the day’s play, much to the dismay of players and fans alike.

As it stands, Bangladesh ended Day 1 at 107 for 3 after just 35 overs, leaving the match precariously poised.

With the game off, players shifted their focus to lighter activities.

A video shared by former wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik showcased wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, fellow wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, and batting coach Abhishek Nayar enjoying a lively game of footvolley in the hotel courtyard.

This light-hearted moment not only lifted the players’ spirits but also highlighted the camaraderie within the team, crucial for maintaining morale during a frustrating weather delay.

As rain continues to plague the Kanpur Test, the prospect of a drawn match looms large. With weather forecasts indicating more rain, Team India will need to regroup and strategize effectively.

Their current position in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings requires them to secure victories in upcoming matches to stay in contention for the final.

While the rain may have washed away Day 2, the players’ ability to find joy in each other’s company remains unscathed.
