Daystar Falcons, Kisii University unbeaten on Day 1 of BingwaFest Nationals 10s

Unbeaten sides set the pace as the  BingwaFest National 10s pool stages delivered a mix of dominance, statement wins and tightly contested clashes across all categories.

In the women’s pools, Kiambaa Community were flawless, registering three straight wins without conceding in two of those matches. They opened with a commanding 47-0 victory over Blad Academy, followed it up with a similar 47-0 result against Nakuru Rugby, before sealing top spot with a ruthless 52-0 win over Meru University.

In Pool B, Jackals also went unbeaten, underlining their credentials with emphatic victories. They thrashed Tharaka University  51-0 in their opener, added a 38-0 win over Mwira Community, and capped it off with a 31-5 triumph against Kithimu Community.

On the men’s side, consistency proved key with several teams managing two wins from three to stay in contention heading into the knockout rounds.

Pool B saw Kisii University emerge as one of the standout sides, winning all their matches. After edging Tharaka University 3-0 in a tight opener, they went on to defeat Makueni Ravens 27-10 and sealed top spot with a 12-7 win over MMUST Rugby.

In Pool A, Blak Blad recovered from an opening loss to Molo Development (5-7) to secure back-to-back wins, beating KEMU Pitbulls 12-0 and Sigalagala Poly 22-5. KEMU Pitbulls also finished with two wins, bouncing back strongly with a dominant 36-0 result over Molo Development.

In Pool C, Stingerz set the tone early with a 17-12 win over Jackals and a commanding 26-0 victory against Mombasa Sports Club. Despite a narrow 14-10 loss to Meru University. Jackals bounced back to finish strongly, claiming a 24-12 win over Mombasa Sports Club.

Pool D belonged to Daystar Falcons, who maintained a perfect run with three wins. They beat Oilers Academy 17-0, cruised past Kisumu Development 33-7, and wrapped up their campaign with a dominant 30-0 victory over Murang’a Trojans.

Elsewhere, Oilers Academy showed resilience with two wins, including a 17-8 result over Murang’a Trojans and a 24-7 victory against Kisumu Development.
