Delhi Capitals endured a shaky outing with the bat in Match 55 of IPL 2025, managing a modest 133/7 in their allotted 20 overs. On a pitch offering some movement and bounce, the Capitals’ top order crumbled under pressure from a disciplined and incisive bowling display led by captain Pat Cummins. Let’s look at DC vs SRH Updates for 1st Innings.

The innings got off to a disastrous start when Karun Nair departed off the very first ball, caught behind off Cummins. The Australian pacer then struck twice more in quick succession, removing Faf du Plessis for 3 and young Abishek Porel for 8, leaving Delhi reeling at 15/3 within the powerplay. The Capitals’ batting never quite recovered from the early setbacks.

Captain Axar Patel gone for 6, and wickets kept tumbling at the other end. KL Rahul, promoted up the order, struggled to get going and was dismissed for a 14-ball 10 by Jaydev Unadkat.

With half the side back in the pavilion for just 29 runs, Delhi was staring at a total collapse. The middle and lower order then offered brief resistance, and a 33-run stand between Vipraj Nigam (18) and Tristan Stubbs helped steady things briefly. After Nigam’s run-out, Ashutosh Sharma joined Stubbs and added much-needed firepower at the death with a quick 41 off 16 balls, including 3 sixes.

Stubbs held firm with an unbeaten 41 off 36 deliveries, anchoring the tail and ensuring DC batted out their quota of overs. His calmness under pressure was vital in pushing the score past 130.

The 66-run partnership in 45 balls between Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma was the backbone of Delhi’s innings, showcasing a mix of aggression and composure.

Among the bowlers, Pat Cummins was the star, finishing with figures of 3/19 in his four overs. He was ably supported by Jaydev Unadkat (1/13), Harshal Patel (1/36), and Eshan Malinga (1/28), all of whom maintained tight lines and length, never allowing the Capitals to settle.

A win in this game will help Delhi to move back to the top four on the points table and keep their hopes alive for the first top two league stage finish.

However, with just 133 on the board, Delhi Capitals will now need an extraordinary effort with the ball to defend this total. The onus lies on their pace trio and spinners to exploit any assistance the pitch might offer under the lights.
