Delhi Capitals all set to retain these players: Reports

As the IPL 2025 Retentions figure approaches, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh stated that Delhi Capitals (DC) must keep hold of Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs and Jake Fraser-McGurk. In 2020, the Delhi Capitals made their way to the finals for the first time in the franchise history. However, last season, they came very close to reaching the playoffs, managing to accrue only 14 points and coming in with a win loss record of seven eight, following a loss of net run rate. Rishabh Pant, for instance, secured 446 runs in 13 outings at a blistering strike rate of 155.40 during the regular season of IPL 2024.

Star India all-rounder Axar Patel played 14 matches within IPL 2024 in which he amassed 235 runs at a strike rate of 131.28. He also took 11 wickets at an economy of 24.00 Yesterday star cricketer Tristan Stubbs registered similar statistics in terms of matches, 14 matches, and scored 378 runs at a strike rate of 190.91.

following the IPL 2024 season, an Australian cricketer Jake Fraser-McGurk made his entrance to the league and flew to play 9 matches in which he made 330 runs at a staggering strike rate of 234.04.

While communicating with the Star Sports, Harbhajan Singh disclosed names of five players whose services should be retained by the franchise based in Delhi. She also shared that other than Mullally, Mitchell Marsh is another player who should be retained in readiness for the next edition of the T20 tournament.

“There has been so much talk about whether or not Rishabh Pant will be kept on the team. We will find out later, but if I was managing such a team, I would secure him for them. Rishabh Pant. Worth keeping. Axar Patel. Also worth keeping. Stubbs. And I’m guessing – Fraser McGurk is going to be the fourth player to be kept. And in case you wish to keep the fifth player, I reckon it can be Mitch Marsh. I don’t see much of anyone else out there that you’d wish to keep. So out of those 5 players, I reckon that at least 4 of them should be retained by the Delhi Capitals,” Harbhajan was captured in the official press release shared by Star Sports.’

Towards the beginning of this month, two ex-Indian players namely Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao took coaching roles for Delhi Capitals as head coach and director of cricket respectively in preparation for the ensuing season of the IPL.

Sourav Ganguly, a talismanic cricketer and arguably one of the finest Indian skippers has been appointed as the Director of Cricket for JSW Sports
