Delhi Capitals (DC) star dropped from his domestic side due to disciplinary reasons: Reports

Earlier, he had missed Mumbai’s conditioning camp in Bengaluru in July.

A Delhi Capitals (DC) batter has been dropped from his domestic side in what has come as a massive development from the ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy season. He didn’t do well in the initial phase of the tournament, which must have played a role in his axing.

Prithvi Shaw has been excluded from Mumbai’s next fixture against Tripura in Agartala, starting October 26. According to TOI, the decision to drop him isn’t completely cricketing, for the management has told him to work on his fitness.

“Prithvi’s form has been up and down, but then this isn’t entirely a cricketing decision. Mumbai’s selectors and the team management aren’t happy with his fitness, and he has specifically been told to work on it. He needs to drastically cut down his weight. He has been told that he has been given a ‘break’ from this match,” a source told TOI.

A few sources have also claimed that Shaw has been dropped on disciplinary grounds, which has been an issue with him in the past as well. However, there’s no confirmation about it from the official sources, but a renowned X (formerly Twitter) account has broken this news.

Prithvi Shaw had a slow start to the Ranji Trophy 2024/25

Talking about his performances, Prithvi Shaw hasn’t had a great start to the fresh season of the Ranji Trophy 2024/25. He has 59 runs at an average of 19.66 in four outings, including the best of 39*.

Following his axing from Mumbai’s side, Prithvi took to his Instagram account to post a cryptic tweet, writing, “Need a break thx”. His cryptic post suggests there’s much more to his exclusion, and maybe the reports about his axing due to disciplinary reasons might have some truth.

Earlier, he had missed Mumbai’s conditioning camp in Bengaluru in July. Shaw didn’t play in the Buchi Babu Tournament in Chennai, either.

To replace Prithvi, Mumbai have brought Akhil Herwadkar as an opener. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, who has been trying to reclaim his place in the Test side, has pulled out his name from the next game due to personal reasons.
