Deontay Wilder reveals three fights he wants next

Over the weekend, Deontay Wilder returned to the ring for the first time in 10 months as he took on Derek Chisora.

Wilder’s fight against Chisora marked both men’s 50th fights of their careers.

Over 12 rounds, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ was the better fighter on the eye in a scrappy yet decisive contest.

Wilder dropped ‘Del Boy’ twice in the fight and looked like he would close the show in the fifth round, with Chisora badly hurt.

Many questioned what Wilder had left in the tank in the lead-up to the fight, with Chisora being the bookies’ favourite.

Anthony Joshua

Likely the most sought-after fight on the list for fans, Wilder and Joshua have been on a collision course for over a decade.

The pair looked set to collide a few years back but are still yet to share the ring.

Despite both men heading into the latter stages of their careers, the fight would still be massive.

After his win, Wilder walked past ‘AJ’ and said, “let’s do it next, let’s get it on.”

Joshua didn’t reply, but his promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed what his fighter thought of Wilder’s callout.

“Basically AJ wants all of the smoke.”

Moses Itauma

A fight with 21-year-old Itauma appears unlikely, but he was a name Wilder discussed after his win.

Itauma has been near punch-perfect since his debut and fought just over a week ago.

He stopped Jermaine Franklin in the sixth round in spectacular fashion, and Wilder gave props to the Brit.

“I saw his last fight against [Jermaine] Franklin, one hell of a KO.”

Wilder did confirm an interest in fighting Itauma next when speaking at the post-fight press conference.

“He seems like a potential champion that you guys have so hey, why not test him out?”

Agit Kabayel

With most of the top heavyweights in the world already signed to fights over the coming months, an opponent may be hard to find for Wilder.

The two men that hold world titles, Fabio Wardley and Oleksandr Usyk, return on May 9th and May 23rd respectively.

Kabayel has waited for a shot at Usyk for a while now and may look at a fight with Wilder as the perfect way to stay busy.

Both Kabayel and Wilder share a former opponent in Zhilei Zhang, with both being on the end of very different outcomes.

Kabayel stopped ‘Big Bang’ with a brutal body shot in their fight, while Zhang knocked Wilder out cold when they fought.

The German is set to get his shot at Usyk after he fights Rico Verhoeven next month, having been WBC interim champion for some time now, so he may choose to wait for his opportunity.
