A heavyweight boxing clash between two of the division’s beloved
knockout artists is now official following the Deontay
Wilder vs. Derek Chisora weigh-ins.
Both hard-hitting heavyweights successfully made weight for their
clash, which will take place at the O2 Arena in London. Two other
boxers failed to hit their weight limits, though. Ashton Sylve came
in three pounds over the super lightweight limit for his fight
against Raul Antonio Galaviz Hernandez, while Jordan Dujon was 2.9
pounds over the middleweight limit for his bout against Amir
Anderson. Both fights will continue forward, but the overweight
fighters will be fined a percentage of their purses.
Wilder (44-4-1) enters the anticipated fight with 43 knockout wins.
“The Bronze Bomber” rebounded from losses to Joseph Parker and
Zhilei Zhang by knocking out Tyrrell Anthony Herndon. The former
WBC heavyweight champion lost the belt to Tyson Fury
and hasn’t truly looked the same since the trilogy. Wilder
officially weighed 226.4 pounds for the fight, which is 40 pounds
less than his opponent.
Meanwhile, Chisora (36-13) is on a three-fight win streak. “Del
Boy” most recently won decisions over Otto Wallin and Joy Joyce and
has looked solid since losing to Fury via TKO in 2022. The British
boxer will be the heavier fighter, weighing 266.7 pounds for the
12-round fight.
Wilder vs. Chisora will air live on Dazn pay-per-view on Saturday.
The main card begins at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.
