Ghanaian left-back Derrick Kohn produced a key assist as Union Berlin battled to a 1-1 draw at home to St. Pauli in the Bundesliga.
The defender created the hosts’ equaliser early in the second half, capping an enterprising display down the flank.
Union had fallen behind on 25 minutes when Mathias Pereira Lage struck for St. Pauli, finishing a sharp move to silence the Stadion An der Alten Försterei. After the break, Kohn sparked the response, swinging in a pinpoint cross from the left that Andrej Ilic met with a powerful header to level the scores on 52 minutes.
From there, Union pushed hardest for a winner, racking up 16 shots to St. Pauli’s 9 efforts, but could not find a decisive second goal. The visitors nearly stole victory late on when Jackson Irvine struck in stoppage time, only for Union to hang on and claim a valuable point in their relegation fight.
Kohn’s assist adds to a solid 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign, with the defender now on 26 appearances, 1 goal, and 2 assists. Union Berlin next travel to face FC Heidenheim on Saturday, April 11, in another crucial fixture.
