Dewald Brevis gets dream start for MI Cape Town | Game 1 Betway SA20

Dewald Brevis had a brilliant start to his Season 3 campaign for MI Cape Town in the opening SA20 match against Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

Brevis came to the crease after a poor start from MI Cape Town which saw them lose their top 3 for 42 runs in 6.3 overs.

Having faced just one ball for a single, Brevis hammered Simon Hamer for a maximum over deep square leg on the second ball he faced. As a result, we had the first Catch 2 Million winner of the tournament and Brevis got the start to the new season he would have dreamed of.

His next boundary came in the 9th over with a bit of luck. Dawson fizzed a fullish delivery on off and caught on the crease, he hung his bat out for an outside edge for four.

Brevis seemed to have settled at the crease after accumulating some singles, he slapped a short of a length delivery from Dawson over the bowler’s head for a four, then two balls later smacked him for six over cow corner.

In the 13th over he came into his element, smashing Beyers Swanepoel straight down the ground for two consecutive sixes – the first over long-on and the second over long-off.

Despite losing Ingram on the last ball of the 13th over, with 109 on the board, Brevis still managed to hold his form.

He smashed Harmer for a flat six over long-on and followed that up with a single to bring up an incredible 23-ball 50.

Brevis’ innings would come to an end in the 15th over. After smashing a no-look six over the bowler Marco Jansen’s head.

Jansen dismissed Brevis two balls later. The MI’s star performer sliced the ball in the air to extra cover.

That brought an incredible innings to an end – 57 off 29 balls (2 fours, 6 sixes).

Brevis’ knock was crucial to MI’s recovery which saw them post 174-7.
