Diego Lopes vs Yair Rodriguez needs to happen, says Henry Cejudo

MMA veteran Henry Cejudo has explained why he wants to see Diego Lopes and Yair Rodriguez settle their feud.

At UFC 325, Diego Lopes failed in his attempt to defeat Alexander Volkanovski and become the new UFC featherweight champion. He’ll now have to go back to the drawing board and figure out how he could get back to another championship opportunity, which could be a long road for him.

One man who Lopes has had problems with in the past is none other than Yair Rodriguez. While Yair hasn’t competed since his win over Patricio Pitbull last April, he always seems to feature in the conversation when the best featherweights on the planet are discussed.

In a recent video, Henry Cejudo explained why he’s eager to see Lopes and Rodriguez finally settle their feud.

Cejudo wants Lopes vs Rodriguez

“After coming up short, 0-2 to Volkanovski, the ‘Mexizilian’ needs to fight Yair Rodriguez next,” Cejudo said on his X account. “After that whole beef at the press conference, knowing that people have gotten jumped from either side, I mean, it is some Mexican-on-Mexican crime. At 145 pounds, we have Lerone Murphy vs. Movsar.

“Rumor has it, Aljamain Sterling vs. (Youssef) Zalal is going on, too. There’s only one fight for these guys to settle it. I’m talking about that Mexican-on-Mexican crime. Let’s see who is Mr. Mexico. I like May 5, Cinco de Mayo. Who knows guys? Maybe we all wait for September (Noche UFC), but that fight needs to happen.”
