Diego Pacheco defended his WBO International super middleweight title, and added the vacant WBC Silver strap, but had to get off the deck before taking a decision win over Kevin Lele Sadjo over 12 rounds in California.
Pacheco (25-0, KO18) was last seen as recently as July, as he widely won on points against Trevor McCumby, while 35-year-old Frenchman Sadjo (26-1, KO23) was last out in August, forcing Martin Ezequiel Bulacio to retire after four rounds.
It was a battle of the jabs to begin with, and Pacheco got the better of that early argument, also working well to the body of Sadjo in the initial stages of the fight.
A good flurry of punches landed for Pacheco in the third, but Sadjo began to inch his way into the argument, having a good fourth before landing with decent right hands amongst scrappiness in the fifth.
It was turning into a wrestling match, with Pacheco getting the better of the action there was in the next few rounds, but he was on the canvas in the eighth, a huge left hook dropping him.
He recovered well, a huge left of his own wobbling Sadjo towards the end of the round, and after another couple of close frames, Sadjo was hurt again in the penultimate frame, and he ended strongly to get the better of a disappointing fight.
Scores of 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112 ensured Pacheco went home with the belts.
Joe Cordina vs Gabriel Flores Jr
The vacant WBO International lightweight title was claimed by Joe Cordina (18-2, KO9) as he took a points win against Gabriel Flores Jr (28-2, KO8).
Cordina used intelligent boxing and ring IQ, as well as powerful punches to pound out a deserved win, by scores of 117-110, 115-112 and 114-113.

Remaining undercard
In ten-rounders, Skye Nicholson (15-1, KO3) moved closer to a world title shot, as she clearly outscored Yuliahn Luna Avila (28-4-1, KO4) to take the interim WBC super featherweight title.
The Australian got the nod by scores of 98-92 (twice) and 97-93.

Ernesto Mercado (18-0, KO17) remained unbeaten, and won the vacant WBO International super lightweight title with a sixth-round knockout of Antonio Moran (31-8-1, KO21).
Moran was dropped once in the opening round, and twice in the sixth before the conclusion.
Arturo Popoca (17-0-1, KO9) defended his WBC Continental Americas super bantamweight title with a points win against Cesar Vaca Espinoza (19-3-1, KO12).
Two scores of 98-91 and a third at 97-92 won the contest for the unbeaten fighter.
Cheavon Clarke (11-2, KO8) won his first fight after back-to-back losses, and the cruiserweight forced Anthony Hollaway (9-10-3, KO7) to retire after four rounds of their meeting.

Sachery Sam (5-0, KO2) took a wide points win over Brandon Medina Guerrero (7-4, KO0) in their featherweight six-rounder, and lightweight novice Cesar Olvera (1-0-1, KO1) and Victor Saravia (1-6-3, KO1) couldn’t be separated in a majority draw.
