The BCCI selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar selected a 16 member squad for first Test against Bangladesh, along with India resuming their campaign for the World Test Championship this month.
Yash Dayal won his maiden call to play, while Akash Deep has also been chosen for the team. Along with other players, Rishabh Pant is also back in the squad for the first time since his car accident.
Former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik gave his suggestion on Harshit Raina being a good addition for the Indian squad against Bangladesh. The pace bowler got his call for ODI debut against Sri Lanka, but unfortunately could not get involved in any matches.
He showed exceptional skills in the Duleep Trophy, and burst into the IPL 2024, where he bagged 19 wickets and helped KKR lift their third IPL title.
In an interaction, the former player stated, “I just thought, could there have been a spot for Harshit? I felt he bowled well and there is something really special about him. But they already have four good medium pacers.”
“Harshit Rana. He has special skills, a good backspin on the ball, kisses off the pitch, and is a very talented fast bowler. I really wish they take him to Australia because he will make a difference there.”
