Dinesh Karthik has become the batting coach and mentor for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Earlier this year, Karthik chose to retire from playing in the IPL after a great season with RCB, led by Faf du Plessis. In the 2024 IPL, he scored a lot of runs for RCB, making 326 runs in 15 games with an average of 36.22 and a fast scoring rate of 187.35. He also hit 2 scores of 50 or more and his highest score was 83.
Earlier, on his 39th birthday, Karthik announced the end of his successful career with a heartfelt message. He thanked his family and friends for always being there for him. Karthik had been considering retirement for some time and was thinking about taking on new challenges.
“I’m deeply touched by the kindness, support, and love I’ve received recently. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all the fans who have made this possible,” Karthik said.
“After thinking about it for a while, I’ve decided to stop playing cricket for a team. I’m officially retiring and moving on to face new challenges,” Karthik said.
Regarding RCB, they had a tough time, losing six games in a row. But they bounced back by winning six games. They beat CSK in their final league match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to make it to the playoffs.
