Dodgers’ Will Smith Sounds Off After Game-Winning HR on Bobblehead Night

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith hit the game-winning home run against the Arizona Diamondbacks on his bobblehead night.

Smith was 0-for-3 before he stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning, looking like he was possibly going to end up hitless on his special night.

However, as he did in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series, Smith hit a clutch home run, giving the Dodgers a 3-2 lead.

With a 2-2 count, he loaded up and hit a homer, bringing home Mookie Betts and allowing closer Edwin Diaz to warm up to secure the victory.

“He was kind of pumping me heaters there. I was taking the slider pretty well. I just got the barrel on a fastball, and it snuck out,” Smith said about D-Backs relief pitcher Juan Morillo.

Smith is 3-for-11 with two home runs and five RBIs on the season, providing to be one of the more consistent bats on the defending champions.

He caught the entire game, framing and helping the pitching staff perform at a high level — all while delivering at the plate.

“Yeah, there’s nothing better than playing in front of our home fans here at Dodger Stadium. You know, late in innings, we never feel like we’re out of the game,” Smith said on his bobblehead night.

“It always feels like someone’s going to come up with a big hit. We keep applying pressure. Mookie got on right before me. And tonight, it was me who got the big hit.”

Will Smith’s special night

Smith’s bobblehead was in honor of his Game 7 home run, the first of many celebrating the legendary game and the heroes who made it possible.

Before the game, Cara Smith, Will’s wife, and his two daughters, Charlotte and Layton, threw out the first pitch.

“Yeah, that was cool. You know, I was warming up Glasnow in the bullpen when they were out doing their thing, but I got to see them really quick,” Smith added on his special night.

“I know Shara was excited and excited to do ‘It’s time for Dodger baseball’ too. They crushed it.”
