Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig laid down the gauntlet and challenged former San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner to a fight.
Puig, known as “The Wild Horse,” is not shy about getting into an altercation with anyone, and his eccentric manner can leave some people peeved.
Back in May of 2014, Puig hit a home run off Bumgarner, leading to an argument between the outfielder and the pitcher. The point of issue for Bumgarner was the high bat flip.
Later that year, he ended up hitting Puig with a pitch, and the Cuban charged the mound, seemingly ready to fight.
Then, two years later, Puig locked eyes with Bumgarner after grounding out, leading to the southpaw exclaiming, “Don’t look at me!”
“I just ran, and he was looking in my direction,” Puig said through a translator at the time, “and he asked why I was looking at him, and then I asked him why he was looking at me.”
Despite the benches being cleared multiple times and their rivalry spanning more than a decade, Puig and Bumgarner have never gotten into a proper fight.
However, in a recent interview with Dodger Nation’s very own Doug McKain, he expressed his desire for a matchup.
McKain proposed an MMA fight between Puig and Bumgarner to settle their differences, all under the blockbuster Netflix banner.
Puig agreed, but he made it clear that he has no personal issues with Bumgarner.

“I get that fight that I never did in baseball,” Puig told McKain.
He claims he previously invited him to dinner after the altercations to settle their differences, though it was the former Giant who rejected the invitation.

In terms of on-field production, Puig is 11-for-49 all-time against Bumgarner, hitting three home runs and four RBIs.
He has walked four times and struck out 11 times, racking up two doubles as well.
Bumgarner has not given any indication that he would be open to a fight against Puig.
Still, given their longstanding history and the money that can be made in these showcase matches, it is more possible than ever.
