Round six of Super Rugby Americas (SRA) concluded on Monday. Los Dogos were 29-24 bonus point winners over Los Capibaras in Córdoba. With it, Los Dogos retain their spot while Los Capibaras are now slimly holding on to fourth spot.
Los Dogos enjoyed the better of play for the most part of the match. They held a 15-3 lead at half-time, doing so after conceding first points as Bruno Heit landed a long-range penalty.
The first Dogos points came on 12 minutes. The competition’s leading try scorer, Juan Greising Revol, scored his seventh try of the season. The hooker did so from a lineout to maul move.
The second score started with a break from Julián Hernández. Having been tackled deep in the opposition 22, phases followed with Facundo Pueyrredón sliding through to score under the posts. The conversion was successful and was the last score of the first-half.
The second-half began with Los Dogos leading 14-3. The 40 minute period proved to be more of a dual than the first. A competitive comeback from Los Capibaras unraveled but but before Luciano Avaca scored in the corner for Los Dogos.
A trio of tries from Ignacio’s saw Los Capibaras staging a comeback. First, replacement prop Ignacio Palillo went over from close range. Second, fly half Ignacio Dogliani was on hand to combine with Ignacio Zabella for a try down the left.
Los Dogos responded through Mateo Soler with five minutes left in the contest. Soler’s score gave the hosts the bonus point for four tries and went out to a 12 point lead. However, all was not lost for Los Capibaras as captain, Ignacio Gandini scored with time-up and replacement Juan Bautista Baronio landed the conversion to snatch a losing bonus point.
